GSC President Recognized by Ascension Parish

Jared became president in 2013 and his first item of business was to establish a mission for the club; a mission that focused on putting the players first and doing what was in the best interest of each player who played for Gonzales Soccer Club.  This meant treating each player and each team consistently and fairly, regardless of whose child that player was.  As the mission became adopted the by-laws were amended to adopt rules and policies that put the players first.

At first, the transition was tough and the road has not always been easy, but over the course of the last five years, the fruits of his labor have come to pass.  Now GSC has a strong recreational program.  Children starting with the little kickers (age 4) a program which Jared started, are being introduced to the game of soccer, and have the opportunity to learn in a safe and fun atmosphere.  We have seen the growth of our pre-academy and academy programs as those players who want to play competitive soccer get the opportunity to progress to that level of play.  The up and coming competitive teams are as strong as they have eve been.

But soccer was extended past just the children.  Over the course of the last three years, GSC adopted an adult co-ed recreational league that grows each year, giving the opportunity to players who are no longer kids to play.

On the coaching side, the quality of coaching in GSC has expanded by leaps and bounds.  Jared himself recently earned his USSF C license, placing him amongst the highest level of soccer coaches in the state according to US Youth Soccer.  He is currently registering for his USSF B license.  Jared has been instrumental in getting coaches from Great Britain which are the heart of our coaching roster.  Many parents who just want to help out have taken the entry level coaching courses, so that they can become active coaching recreational teams.  In addition to that, under Jared’s leadership, every volunteer recreational coach is given a lesson guide for running practices and drills.  Finally, just this year, GSC signed deals with two high school coaches from Baton Rouge, who have been sought after by BRSC for a long time, but who decided to come to Gonzales because of our focus on players.

Recently, GSC opened, with Parish partnership, the Cajun Industries Soccer Complex at Lamar Dixon.  Jared spent countless hours meeting with the parish engineering staff in coming up with the plan and design of Lamar Dixon.  He played a big role in negotiating a deal with private industry, particularly Cajun Industries in not only providing all of the dirt work, but in a new parking lot.  When it came time to negotiate the contract of use with the Parish, Jared set the direction and path the club would take.

In 2017, less than a month after the park was open, Louisiana Soccer hosted the 2017 Target Cup at Lamar Dixon.  In 2018, the inaugural Jambalaya Cup was held, where over 75 teams signed up!  The tournament by all accounts was a huge success.

The leadership of Jared Moss has changed the culture of the club.  GSC now has a good reputation and growing reputation around the state.  This is secondary to the leadership of Jared Moss…putting the players first and being consistent across the board.

The success GSC currently has could not have been achieved without the efforts of Jared Moss.
